I haven't blogged in such a long time. I just know I am so far behind and I am having trouble finding motivation to catch up. Instead, I'll just update you with what has been happening recently. I apologize for no pictures. Ben is working on the desktop computer which has all the pictures. I'll have to post some later.
The last month has been full of sickness and laughter. Savannah has had two fevers this past month. Both have lasted about two days with no other symptoms but still it is no fun. She is such a happy baby when she is under the medicine but as soon as her fever starts up again all she wants to do is cuddle. I definitely enjoyed the cuddling but I wished she was feeling better. These last few weeks she has been back to her normal happy self all the time. Eve just barely got a fever this afternoon. UGGHH!! She wasn't acting like herself but she didn't have a fever but when Ben got home from work she started burning up. We gave her some medicine so hopefully she can get back to her happy little self. I missed all her ramblings today as she was in no mood to be social.
The girls are SOOOO talkative. I love it. They garble and chatter on. Eve has started saying "YAAOO YAOO YAOO". I know the words mean nothing and I need to record it. It is seriously the cutest thing. Plus, she doesn't do it very quietly. My cute little munchkins do not have quiet voices. I'm pretty sure they get that from the Allan side as my family is VERY loud :). Savannah is also my little chatter box and she loves to talk. Both Eve and Savannah give you huge smiles if you talk back to them in their language. They think it is so funny.
While Ben is gone to work, the girls and I play chase. It is the best game ever. We put one child in the walker and then I hold the other one. Then I have the person in the walker chase me and my friend. It is so hilarious. If Savannah is getting chased she will squeal when she sees Eve coming towards her. Eve is an excellent chaser and can turn around very quickly in the walker. Savannah also loves to chase but she is a little bit slower. She gets distracted by the fun things she sees as she is chasing us. Both girls squeal with delight when they see someone chasing after them. They are now used to our game and always look to see if a friend is coming after them :). We have also started playing chase with Ben and I each holding a child. This is the best when we are heading up the stairs to put the girls in bed. We will have one person chase the other and the girls just squeal and laugh in delight.
The girls LOVE to walk. They are perfectly content to hold your hands and explore the house. We've also tried to play chase with both girls walking, one in the walker and one holding onto my hands, but it hasn't worked so well. The person in the walker is so much faster than person holding onto my fingers. We will continue to improve on our walking skills and I'm sure we will play chase that way too.
I taught the girls to turn pages of books because they LOVE to read and look at books. They are excellent page turners and know that you turn the page to see something new. They often turn the pages too quickly to read all the words, but it is awesome that they are learning so quickly. When we read stories before putting them to bed they often fight over who gets to turn the page. It usually results in the book getting mauled by two eager helpers!
The girls love to eat solids. We are getting much better at table food. They especially love bananas. Sav is getting so good at feeding herself. She loves when you set things on her tray and the she will shove them in her mouth. I don't think she totally realizes that you don't have to eat everything on the tray. Even when she isn't that hungry if you put something on her tray she will gobble it up. Today when I was feeding them graham crackers Eve was half eating half playing with her cracker. I decided to give her a break and feed her some baby food and then go back to eating her cracker. Savannah of course gobbled up her graham cracker. She saw that Eve set her graham cracker down so she grabbed Eve's tray to slide herself closer (their boosters are on rolly chairs) and grabbed Eve's half eaten graham cracker and ate it! The little thief! I gave Eve a new cracker to eat but I thought it was so funny that Sav will eat off of Eve's plate if Eve isn't fast enough. I wonder how long she has been doing that. I'll have to make sure that Eve gets her fair share of food and that Sav isn't always stealing things :). A little while later Sav stole bread off of Eve's tray to eat.
There is so much more to report but this little update will do for now. I'll try to post pictures soon.
I love the update. You make me feel like I was there, hearing the babble, the laughter, the fun. Thanks for sharing.
