So I suggested to Ben that we start having a date night where we actually plan something to do and not just watch TV. Our date night was scheduled for Saturday night and by Friday morning we still had no idea what we were going to do. On my lunch break, I was watching the snow fall and I had an idea for our date night. We could have a themed date night and the theme could be Hot items. I was so tickled that I thought of this brilliant idea...I even had a whole night of activities to go with it. For dinner we would have hot Buffalo wings, dessert we would have molten chocolate lava cake (homemade) and then for our activity we would watch Pete's Dragon (he's a dragon, so of course there is fire).
The hard part was trying to decide what to have with the hot wings. (P.S. we didn't really have wings we used chicken tenders instead). I kept throwing out ideas and Ben kept shooting them down. He kept using the excuse that "it didn't go with hot wings". We finally settled on having a salad with our hot wings. Here is a picture:
I was super proud of the dessert idea. Honestly, homemade Molten Chocolate Lava Cake how could that be a bad idea. For those of you who don't know what Molten Chocolate Lava Cake is, it is a cake and in the middle there is warm chocolate. So when you cut into this cake warm chocolate lava comes tumbling out. It turned out to be very tasty. There is no need for us to go to Chili's when we can make our own Molten Chocolate Lava Cake and it was super easy to make. I always wondered how they made this delicious cake but I never dreamed it would be so easy to make.
Overall I think our date night was a success! One thing to work on is not falling asleep during the activity but other than that it was a definite success. I will have to think of another great idea for next week.
Great idea! Brent and I are so bad about not just spending our "date nights" watching tv. I'm jealous!
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up. I love your theme - a "hot" date night is what every couple needs.
ReplyDeleteDate night? Who knew those still existed? Just kidding, we go on date nights twice a month without Hudson and it's great! We love lava cakes - glad you were able to have a "hot" date night at home - although, I'm sure there were other "Hot" date night movies to pick from :)
ReplyDeletehot date night with a hot date! Way to be creative and have fun at the same time.
