I was just looking back and I realized it has been quite a while since I last wrote. I really don't think anything super exciting has happened but I will update you on the little things that have been happening.
Ben has officially started school. It is his last year and to say the least he is pretty ecstatic. I keep telling him that he shouldn't start counting down this early but he is so excited about being done with school. With school starting again he is getting pretty busy. Since we are living in Sandy, Ben arranged his school schedule so that he would only have to drive to Provo three days a week. This does make it nice so he doesn't have to make that awful drive to Provo everyday. It does make things interesting though. He usually leaves the same time I do in the morning and then he is at school all day. He then usually beats me home by a half an hour. On the other two days he is working 8 hours a day at his job in South Jordan. It is nice because it keeps him busy but then it is also stressful because then he has to manage school and work pressures. I guess it doesn't make it any easier that he then does reading and other school work at home after he is done with work. To say the least his life is kind of busy.
With him being busy it puts more of the responsibility on me to get things done. I guess I have gotten pretty used to him helping around the house. We cook together, clean together, go grocery shopping together, and do little errands together. I realize how much I miss him helping around the house. Now I'm left to do most of the chores myself. When he does have time he usually is pretty good to help out.
The funny part about him being so busy is that I get to do stuff that I normally wouldn't do. A couple of weeks ago when Ben came home from work he found a puddle of water by our fridge and then a ton of water in our fridge and whole lot more of frozen water (ice) in the freezer. I guess our ice maker froze over and then continued to dispense water at regular intervals into the ice maker. To say the least it was quite the mess by the time Ben got home. He cleaned up a lot of the mess before I got home from work, but when I got home from work I took over. He had a big test the next day that he really needed to study for and I had no plans. So I began clean up duty. I didn't realize how big of an inconvenience it is when your refrigerator malfunctions. It took me most of the night but I did manage to defrost our freezer, clean out the water that had accumulated in our fridge, and clean the puddle water behind our fridge.
After we got everything figured out we went to bed and the next day we got ready to head to my cousins wedding. We were just gone for the weekend but when we came back I realized things could get frozen in our fridge. On Monday morning I pulled out my milk to realize that the whole entire gallon was frozen. I guess our fridge settings were a bit to high and thus certain things were getting frozen. My milk in particular. You would think that it would be a universal thing, but No. Ben's milk was perfectly fine. As the week went on I kept finding more and more things that had been affected by the apparent freeze that occurred in our fridge. Just so you know frozen apples are not quite the same as fresh apples. They are very mushy. Frozen potatoes do not taste quite the same after they have thawed. Frozen Eggs...I just found out about that one today. They don't really work quite as well as fresh eggs. I think now we have officially found everything that was frozen in our fridge!
I think that pretty much sums up our exciting lives. We seem to be traveling a lot this month between wedding receptions and work. On Friday, we are heading to Boston! The paper that I wrote for my Master's project is being present in a Sports Statistics conference. We submitted the abstract/paper that I wrote to a Sport's Statistics conference and it was chosen for a presentation. I luckily don't have to give the presentation but my professor does. Anyways, I am going to the conference and BYU is paying for Ben to come along too, so he gets a mini vacation. I am super excited to go to the conference, plus all the proceedings/papers will get published in a special conference edition journal. Once we get back from Boston, I get two days to recuperate before I get to go to a work Conference in Deer Valley, at least it is close by. I think I think it will be nice once things calm down a bit but for right now we are enjoying the business. The next post should be about Boston:)
Chelle, you made me laugh with your description of frozen potatoes and eggs. Hope you got it all figured out. Thanks so much for coming all the way to Idaho for a wedding. Wish we got together for just visiting time, not when we all are in such a rush (well, at least Ashley and I were in a rush!) Thanks too for letting us use the vases and trivets. I'm sure you have a dozen very good uses for those vases and trivets! I think I will bring some down to you.
