I've been meaning to post this for a while, but work has been super crazy and of course I keep putting it off because I am a horrible blogger. So here it goes.
Ben had to work on Labor Day so the girls and I headed up to Logan Sunday afternoon to see the Wellsville parade. It is a parade that I used to go to every year as a kid as we would have a big family reunion with all my dad's aunts, uncles, cousins, and all their kids. I was super excited as this would be the girls first parade.
To say the least the girls loved it! When we got home, we were getting the girls ready for bed and I was asking the girls to tell Daddy what they did today. Eve wasn't interested as she was exhausted from the long drive home, we got stuck in traffic, and was laying on the floor ready to go to bed. Sav on the other hand was so excited to tell Dad what we did today. I'll tell you Sav's interpretation of what we did and then I'll explain, like I had to do with Ben.
Me: What did we do today? Can you tell Dad?
Sav: Candy! Yum!
Me: We went to the parade and the girls loved all the candy! They soon realized that Mom would just have them put their candy in the bag to eat later, whereas if they took it to Grandma she would open it right away. Sav didn't end up handing me much of her candy, unless Grandma was convinced she had too much in her mouth! Eve also soon caught on that Grandma is the source of all candy!
Sav: Boom! Fireworks!...Loud!
Me: Side note, ever since the fourth of July the girls are obsessed with fireworks and think every loud sound is a firework. Sav was referring to the indians/settlers who rode through the street shooting their guns! Boy it was SUPER loud and we had to cover the girls' ears because it was so loud. Eve wasn't as impressed with the people shooting guns. I don't blame her it was really loud!
Eve: Cars coming!
Me: During the parade different cars would come down the street throwing candy! We had to watch out and stay to the side of the road so we wouldn't get hit. Thus, cars coming!
Sav: Pretty princesses!
Me: The girls loved seeing the cute princesses on the floats and even started waving at them. The girls soon learned that if you didn't wave at the people throwing candy then they wouldn't get any :) This statement also referred to the cute knitted princesses grandma and grandpa bought them at the fair afterwards. They loved carrying Belle and Aurora around!
Sav: Abby!
Me: The girls got to play with Greg and Kayla's dog Abby! The girls were in love. They would go outside with Abby and try to throw her the ball or stick and Abby would retrieve the item, that had only moved a few feet, and bring it back to them! They loved to pet Abby! When Abby licked Eve, Eve exclaimed "Abby eat me!". We had to let her know that Abby was just giving her loves and not trying to eat her.
Sav: Trampoline. Crumbs....Crumbs
Me: The girls LOVED jumping on grandma and grandpa's trampoline. When we first went out to jump there were lots of leaves and debris on the tramp, so grandma had to get a rag and clean out all the crumbs. The girls were particular and made sure that grandma wasn't slacking and missing any crumbs! They loved running around and jumping on the trampoline. They thought it was so funny when grandpa would try to catch them and they would run frantically to the other side. The still ask at least once a week to go jump on grandma and grandpa's trampoline!
Me: Tell Dad about the goats!
Sav: Leaves....Yummy!
Me: My parents neighbors have goats that they brought out for the girls to see. The goats would stand on their hind legs and eat the leaves off the neighbors front tree. The girls would even pick leaves that fell on the ground and feed it to the goats. The goats weren't as interested as the fallen leaves as they were with the fresh leaves on the tree! We kept telling the girls that the goats thought the leaves were yummy! They thought it was so fun!
To say the least for the couple weeks I have still heard a recap of the fun day. One day it was raining and the girls heard thunder, and Sav says "Boom! Loud! Fireworks!" Soon Eve will chime in "Cars coming!" and Sav will finish it off "Candy....Yum!"
Such funny friends! The girls loved the parade and we will have to go to some more parades now that the girls are pros!
Such fun memories!
