They are so adamant about things. If they don't like something they will keep telling you "done" until you stop doing whatever you are doing. After that if they still aren't satisfied they will then proceed to say "away" repeatedly until you put the object away.
The other day I was making smoothies and Savannah stands right near the counter and proceeds on whining while the blender is going. As soon as I stop she says "done". She keeps staring at me and saying "done...done...done" until I unplug the blender. Once I unplug the blender she points at it and says "away...away...away". She is obviously too aware that just because something is off doesn't mean you won't use it again. The girls HATE blenders.
This one will come as no shock to you, but the girls HATE vacuums. Every time I vacuum I have two little friends following me around screaming bloody murder. It doesn't matter that I try to get them to do other things while I am vacuuming. Once they hear that sound they must follow it and scream their little hearts out until the vacuuming has stopped. Once I have stopped they then proceed alternating between "done" and "away". It is miraculous that those tears magically dry up once they are positive that the evil vacuum is getting put away.
I just got my LARGE exercise ball out and it scares Savannah half to death. It is quite huge and is probably taller than she is. It also doesn't help that it will roll on its own if it is out in an open room. Whenever she sees it she tells me it needs to go "away". I've tried to convince her that the ball is away, but she is not convinced. I guess I need to work on showing her that the ball is not scarey.
Lastly, Ben finds this last scary thing quite amusing as he has scared the girls with it multiple times this week. After dinner, Ben asks the girls if they want to see a show and then he asks if they want to watch a show about a baby. I'm not sure if you have seen the Pixar short "Jack Jack Attack". Here is a link to it on youtube (JackAttack). It's a short from the Incredibles. The girls are always willing to watch it but when it gets to around the 2:00 minute mark of the show they freak out as shown below.
Can you guess what part they don't like? They HATE that the baby, Jack Jack, is on fire. I didn't catch it in the video, but every time after we turn the video off (after the baby catches on fire) the girls will say in a concerned voice "Baby" and point to the TV. If you couldn't tell by watching the video of the girls watching the TV, Ben thinks it is hilarious. Poor girls!
I know I shouldn't laugh, but that was funny! Super duper content and then all the sudden, tears.
ReplyDeleteI love the compassion they are showing for poor Jack Jack. You should be kind to them and not make them watch poor Jack Jack catch on fire! (Although I totally laughed too!)
