Scaredy Cats

I am one to readily admit that I am pretty much a scaredy cat. Since I am a scaredy cat I get startled pretty easily. I'll give you a few examples.
1. I was putting Eve down for a nap one evening and I had been rocking her to sleep. Ben was down stairs trying to convince Savannah to go to sleep. I had just gotten Eve to fall asleep, so I placed her in her crib and I was walking out of the room. Mind you that all the lights were off in the room. I all of the sudden see this person in the room. So of course I jump and gasp, but no screaming which I was very proud of. Ben had walked in the room to put Savannah down for her nap without making any sounds. To say the least he got quite the lecture when we went downstairs.
2. When we were living in our apartment, I decided to get even with Ben for scaring me all the time so I decided to scare him. One day when he was in our bedroom getting ready, I thought I would hide near the kitchen and give him a taste of his own medicine. I was very sneaky, or so I thought and I stayed hidden for quite a while, but he was taking a long time to come out of the bedroom. I looked up and much to my surprise I see Ben's head peaking over the counter. Of course, I gave a little scream because I wasn't expecting him to be there. My plan totally didn't go as planned and I failed at scaring him yet again.

I am afraid to report that the girls have picked up my habits. Of course, it is always Ben that scares them half to death and then they usually end up crying. Does anyone see the connection here? Here are some of the ways he has scared/startled them.
1. The other night Ben was having a hard time convincing Eve to finish her bottle. I don't know what it is but sometimes the girls won't eat for Ben, which means I have to feed them the rest of their bottle. Anyways, I had just finished feeding Savannah and had offered to finish feeding Eve. We switched babies and I got Eve to finish her bottle. As soon as I stand her up to get her to burp, I can tell she is starting to work on something (aka a VERY messy diaper). This always happens to me, I always get the girls when they have a messy diaper. Ben looks over and sees Eve is working on something and he just busts out laughing, very loudly I might add. Savannah who is happily standing on Ben's lap bursts into tears. I guess Ben's loud laughter scared her. Ben had to curb his laughter to calm his very upset daughter.
2. When Savannah and I are at physical therapy (I'll blog about PT later), Ben stays home to watch Eve. One morning Eve was playing on a blanket and Ben was in the other room working. He had the brilliant idea to rush in from the other room and see what Eve would do. So he runs from the other room into where Eve is and it results in scaring Eve half to death. Thus, there were tears and Ben having to calm Eve down.
3. I asked Ben to go get Savannah out of her crib. Savannah was minding her own business sucking her hand when he put his hand on her stomach and shook his hand. Savannah wasn't expecting it. Got really startled and thus started crying.
4. Savannah really enjoys singing. One night when we had finished feeding the girls, Ben started singing the song "Day-O we say Day-O Daylight come and we wanna go home". He would sing the "Day-O" part really loudly. Anyways, Savannah was pretty tired and Ben started singing this song. The Day-O part startled her pretty badly and thus resulting in more tears.
5. When Eve is cranky/tired, it is pretty easy to get her to cry. Ben seems to enjoy this :). One night she was tired, so Ben threw her up in the air. Eve did not like this at all. She thought it was pure torture and of course started crying, which of course makes Ben laugh.

  2. I cracked up reading Jay's comment! Roxie is the same way about not wanting to take bottles from Kash - its so crazy! I loved reading all those stories, I need to be better about writing down the little things.
