Life in the Hospital

I know this is way old news, but I wanted to write down some of my memories of the girls LONG hospital stay while I still remembered. Pardon the blast in to the past.

Here is the long awaited picture of Eve sporting her awesome "sunglasses". I totally wished Ben was there to see how cute she looked soaking in the rays, but a picture would have to do for him. Sorry for the mood lighting. With the jaundice light on her we only get a spotlight of Eve. As you can see she is still on the CPAP. Can you blame her for hating having that stuck up her nose? I tell her to just stick with it and eventually we can move on to bigger and better things like a nasal canula.

The other day when Ben and I were at the hospital for the girls cares, I got this cute picture of Savannah holding onto Ben's finger. Their cares are when we get to change their diaper and take their temperature. At night the cares sometimes includes getting to hold the girls for a few minutes as the nurses change the linens. Sorry for the tangent, anyways I just thought this picture is so cute. Plus, it shows how tiny their fingers and hands are with respect to Ben's hand.

It is so weird to see how tiny they are, but then I look at other babies in the NICU and I think "Oh, my girls aren't that small". Every day that we come to the NICU, I am reminded of how very grateful I am. The girls are doing well. They have their health problems, but there are excellent doctors and nurses who check on them. I am just so blessed that they have such excellent care.

In other news, the girls have two primary nurses. In the NICU, you can ask nurses to be your child's primary nurse. This way you can have continuity of care and know that whenever that nurse is on he/she will be taking care of your child. This way the nurse knows your child and there is a connection. When I walked in to see if the girls were in the same room I noticed that two nurses were signed up to be the girls primary nurse. The names didn't look familiar. Karla and Marcia. I wonder how the nurses decided that they wanted to be the girls primary nurse. I'm not complaining. I love that nurses are willing to volunteer to be the girls nurse. I am sure these ladies are wonderful and I am looking forward to getting to know them better.
