As we were driving home from Provo last night, Ben and I were talking about little things that make us happy. I was relating to him a conversation that I had had previously in the week with his mom and sister. His Mom was asking me if I liked flowers. When she asked me that it caught me off guard cause I didn't know what to say. I have a love hate relationship with flowers. I really do enjoy flowers but there are other things that I would rather have. Last night Ben was just barely informed me that on my last birthday he was debating on whether or not he should get me flowers. He then decided what would really make me happy is if he cleaned the house and did the laundry before I got home from work so we could go celebrate. I remember coming home from work stressed and I was pleasantly surprised to find our house clean. I think that was the best part of my present. Little things like cleaning and helping around the house make me ten times happier than flowers. I do like flowers but other things definitely make me happier.

Ben is actually pretty easy going. To make Ben happy I think of two main things Sports and Food. He would be perfectly content on his birthday to sit at home and watch a game. Since we are celebrating his birthday on Saturday (because I will be flying into SLC Friday night), I know one definite option to celebrate is to watch a BYU basketball game on TV. The other thing Ben really enjoys is food. We don't eat out very often, but he is pretty good at letting me try new recipes. Also, when we do go out it is definitely fun to try new restaurants in Provo. If Sports and going out to dinner is all we did for Ben's birthday he will be in seventh heaven. I have yet to plan that aspect of it, but I will have to keep that option in mind.
I like the knee pads on your basketball players. Funny!
ReplyDeleteThere is just something about a clean house that makes me happy inside too - that's awesome that Ben knows you so well. Whatever you end up getting Ben for his birthday I'm sure he will love! (this is Trisha by the way - I'm too lazy to log out of Brandon's account)
ReplyDeleteBut now he knows! The little things are the best gifts!
