We LOVE the Dentist

On Friday I noticed that Eve had a small blister on the gums above one of her top teeth.  Me being the paranoid person that I am I googled it and asked Ben for his opinion.  Of course Ben told me that I shouldn't be looking on the internet for the answers to my question.  I found a lot of things that made me even more paranoid, but I did fine one nugget of usefulness.  On some website it mentioned that you could get a blister on the gum above your tooth if you have a trauma to your mouth.  Which we have had on 2 different occasions.

Thus, on Monday I called Eve's dentist to see what he thought we should do.  I didn't know if we should just watch it or if it was something we should get checked out.  Turns out they wanted to see us so I lugged the two kids to the dentist this morning.  Half way to the dentist I realized that when Ben and I were getting Sav ready this morning we obviously forgot her shoes (and it had snowed the night before...great just great).  Anyways, I had to carry Sav into the building and of course Eve wanted to be carried too.  I guess that is the joy of having twins.

We got into the dentist and they did some x-rays.  At first the nurse was confused as the tooth the blister was above wasn't one that they had done dental work done.  Eve actually chipped both of her teeth on two separate occasions one 3 months after the other.  (I know I should get the AWESOME MOM award :)) When I tried to call the first dentist we went to he was out of town for a week and I didn't want to wait that long so I picked a new dentist, the dentist we are currently going to.  He is the one that did the dental work on her other front tooth.

I re-explained to the nurse what had happened and she seemed satisfied with my response.  The dentist came in and told me that they were going to have to do a baby root canal.  UGGGHH.  The first dentist that we went to for the initial injury told me that that may happen, but when we did the initial x-rays everything looked fine.  I guess 6 months later they can now see that the nerve of her tooth was damaged.  Yippee!!  Eve and I get to go in a few weeks to have her baby root canal done.  The other option was to just pull it.  The dentist and I talked and we decided the best option would be to do the root canal and try to give her front tooth some more time.  In the mean time they gave me an antibiotic for her to take in case her blister in her mouth pops.  Poor Eve!  So much dental work in such a short time.

Good thing Eve and I love the dentist! I think they missed not seeing us every 3 months. :)
