Progress on Ben's Stocking

So about a month ago I had this brilliant idea that I would make Ben a stocking for Christmas. I have this stocking that my Grandma made for me and I absolutely love it. So I thought I would make Ben one. I made him pick out the pattern, because if I was going through all this work he better like the stocking. So what did he pick? A Football Santa Stocking...

I have been working on the stocking for a few weeks and I am on step 34! Now some of you might not think that is very far, but I think I am very far. It takes forever to sequin the pieces and then attach them and stuff them if required. I think the part that has caused me the most grief so far is snowman's pom-pom. Who would think that pom-pom would be so difficult? Well I surely didn't. My first attempt was an absolute failure, Ben laughed really hard. It didn't even look like a pom-pom. :( I tried again and I think it turned out a lot better. I'll keep you posted on the progress of Ben's stocking. I know you are all dieing to see how it turns out. :)

  1. That is so cute! I'm impressed. We'll have to tell Grandma you are duplicating her efforts. She will be pleased.

  2. I love it! I did notice how the top row of sequins looked wonderful (isn't that what you were saying took you FOREVER?)

  6. I'm horrible with any sorts of crafts, but fell in love with stockings just like these (I had seen Connie Hursts). Connie said she would make them for me - I was stunned but said she enjoys it. In a few months she had made 5 (she had made one for Rachael). I think she has special powers ...

  7. It looks wonderful - but you have avoided my tradition, which is to think of it on Dec 1st and be sewing all night long on Dec 24th to complete it! What a nice tribute to Grandma.
